Ooops

I could do a really long post on how sorry I am I've left it so long since my last post. But I'm just going to jump straight into.
So I've been working  at Fred Perry for a while now and I honestly love it. I am passionate about the brand and I think my wardrobe reflects that!
As I work at the outlet we obviously get the clothes a year after high street. Therefore we have just had the paisley Amy Winehouse Foundation collection in store. I have loved this collection since high street and now own 3 polos, 1 shirt, a dress, a bandanna and a bag!
The patterns are bright and fun but still have the Amy feel to them. It's a bold collection which I feel works with the brand as well as being different from the Laurel and Authentic womens' collections.

Here are a few 'selfies' of the shirt, dress and polo. I think it is one of my favourite Amy collections and am saddened by the news that they may not be producing many more through the foundation!

Bloom

I've been quiet on the blog lately and I do apologise I've had a busy summer!

My summer project for uni was based on the word 'Bloom' I admit I was slightly rushed for this project and will most likely reshoot but my model was lovely to work with and we had a fun day in the studio.

Layla Sailor

For my course I had to create a creative CV, which was then to be judged by 3 industry guests in the hopes of winning an internship. I was lucky enough to win a place with Layla Sailor, a freelance photographer based in Manchester who specialises in film making, prop-making and art direction. After hearing her talk about her work I was inspired and ecstatic that I was going to be able to assist her.

Layla often collaborates with Lisa Stannard, who she met while studying and working in Manchester. Their collaborative work is exciting with Stannards' collections coming to life through Sailors' work. She also collaborates with jewellery designer wonderhaus, which again is based in Manchester, specialising in acrylic and plastic jewellery. I am in love with their Manchester skyline clear cuff!

Layla works a lot with colour, which started in her university days. Her work often has a Scandinavian feel to it, which she plays upon and adapts in different ways. Her style of work is different to y ow and I'm excited to see her processes and see how I can adapt what I learn to my own work.

All shook up

So again I have been pretty poor with posting recently I would say it's due to illness and my uni project I handed in on tuesday but still they're not good enough excuses! So here is my final pictures from my uni project. This was a project based on food, art and fashion. The final piece came from different food experiences and visiting several galleries both in Manchester and London. I wanted to do something clean and sleek and chose to style mine so that it fitted in with AnOther magazine's editorials. Our accessories for this still life shoot had to be based on either s/s13 or a/w13 I chose s/s13 and based it on the pastel trend that is current.

Back to MG HQ

So I was invited back to the Missguided studio to do some more styling work on the 28th Nov. g I was styling the beautiful Natasha who I worked with last time and as always she was such a pleasure to work with. The day was less hectic which I appreciated and I was able to really understand the process Missguided go through to appeal to their customers and how important it is to make sure the outfits are suitable for their customers.
Here are a few pieces that are already on the website: Missguided

Sacred Heart

Here are some of my Ballet shots from my shoot with Thea. For never modelling before she did a fantastic job. I made the dress she was wearing which was inspired by Alexander McQueen's autumn/winter 2008 collection. The shoot was for a perfume campaign which I called 'Sacred'.
I love these images and was very pleased with how my final images turned out.
I can't wait to start my next project.

Miss styled

So here are a few of the outfits I styled for Missguided. The styling is contemporary and edgy and the model Namaih was perfect for this look. She is a fun playful girl who isn't afraid to try different poses and expressions and connects well with the camera. I love the black chunky boots in the first image and you can get them from missguided, they are called the Darby ultimate platform boot and are £40.99 which I think is an absolute steal! The heel is 16cm with the platform at the front being 8cm.

Missguided

So I've had an exciting and busy few weeks. On 31.10.12 I did a days interning at Missguided in Manchester. Missguided is an online retailer that sell contemporary and on-trend fashion. I knew the photographer working for them and he remembered I had this blog and am interested in fashion styling so he got in touch with me via twitter. This shows how important social media is in getting work placements and experience. It's always good to remain professional on twitter as you never know who may me following.

I was nervous at when I first arrived but everyone was lovely and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. I originally thought I would just be dressing models but I ended up actually styling outfits as well as dressing them.

The head stylist Sara Luxe was lovely and helped me with any questions I had. I like to think she was impressed with me and talked about having me back at MG!

I've been working on a new project as well for the past 2 weeks in which I have to create a perfume advert for a design house. The house I chose was Alexander McQueen and I have to create a 'couture' garment and use a vintage item. I have my shoot tomorrow and am using a model who is a ballet dancer to create a theatrical look.

I'll post images once they are edited

A game of chance and coincidence

So our final photo shoot for our 6 outfit editorial was shot in Manchester. We used a mix of colour and black and white film and a DSLR. I took the 35mm colour film photos. The 'narrative' of our shoot was to follow our model on a normal day out in manchester. We based it on the work of French Artist Sophie Calle - suite venitienne in which she followed a man she met at a party from Paris to Venice.

Boy George Shoot

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, life has just been a bit busy!
My latest uni project took up a lot of my time but the results were worth it.
In a group of 4 we had to produce a 6+ page editorial with 6 outfits based on research we did on an artist. (I'll post pictures of this later)
To 'practice' styling for a more professional shoot we were given an 80's pop star and had to style our models based on them for a cover shot for 'Self service' magazine. The pop star we were given was Boy George which I was pleased with as I felt their were lots of directions we could go and experiment with.

We had a 2nd year photographer take the pictures so we could concentrate on styling and directing the shoot. This meant we had to communicate with the photographer and both models I feel as if we did this successfully and created images I'm proud of.

Tie-Dye Dreams Take 2

So as promised here are the final images from our tie-dye photo shoot. As we had such a short time to complete the shoot there are a few details which are not as tied together as I would've liked but I think me and my group worked well together and came up with some great shots. I think I'm going to do some tie-dye and maybe start selling it round uni as it's a great, cheap, and interesting way to customise a basic white t-shirt!
