Bloom

I've been quiet on the blog lately and I do apologise I've had a busy summer!

My summer project for uni was based on the word 'Bloom' I admit I was slightly rushed for this project and will most likely reshoot but my model was lovely to work with and we had a fun day in the studio.

Layla Sailor

For my course I had to create a creative CV, which was then to be judged by 3 industry guests in the hopes of winning an internship. I was lucky enough to win a place with Layla Sailor, a freelance photographer based in Manchester who specialises in film making, prop-making and art direction. After hearing her talk about her work I was inspired and ecstatic that I was going to be able to assist her.

Layla often collaborates with Lisa Stannard, who she met while studying and working in Manchester. Their collaborative work is exciting with Stannards' collections coming to life through Sailors' work. She also collaborates with jewellery designer wonderhaus, which again is based in Manchester, specialising in acrylic and plastic jewellery. I am in love with their Manchester skyline clear cuff!

Layla works a lot with colour, which started in her university days. Her work often has a Scandinavian feel to it, which she plays upon and adapts in different ways. Her style of work is different to y ow and I'm excited to see her processes and see how I can adapt what I learn to my own work.

Back to MG HQ

So I was invited back to the Missguided studio to do some more styling work on the 28th Nov. g I was styling the beautiful Natasha who I worked with last time and as always she was such a pleasure to work with. The day was less hectic which I appreciated and I was able to really understand the process Missguided go through to appeal to their customers and how important it is to make sure the outfits are suitable for their customers.
Here are a few pieces that are already on the website: Missguided

Sacred Heart

Here are some of my Ballet shots from my shoot with Thea. For never modelling before she did a fantastic job. I made the dress she was wearing which was inspired by Alexander McQueen's autumn/winter 2008 collection. The shoot was for a perfume campaign which I called 'Sacred'.
I love these images and was very pleased with how my final images turned out.
I can't wait to start my next project.

A game of chance and coincidence

So our final photo shoot for our 6 outfit editorial was shot in Manchester. We used a mix of colour and black and white film and a DSLR. I took the 35mm colour film photos. The 'narrative' of our shoot was to follow our model on a normal day out in manchester. We based it on the work of French Artist Sophie Calle - suite venitienne in which she followed a man she met at a party from Paris to Venice.
Stylists: Danielle O'Brien, Sarah Niblett, Ciara Reddington and Poppy Seddon
